Logging industry

The industry is so well developed that it forms an industry cluster operating in synergy with:

• Exploitation;
• Sawmills;
• Pulp and paper mills;
• Secondary and tertiary transformation.

Wood collected in Saguenay constitutes 20% of Québec-based operations. It consists of 81% softwood and 19% hardwood.

Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is the largest timber reserve in Québec.

The logging industry is composed of 500 active companies, including 9 operating in primary transformation.
